January 27

Perhaps one of the reasons you might be drawn to things such as a sky filled with stars or a field of flowers is not only because they are beautiful but because they represent how what is worth coming into seeing and being grateful for in this world is often an abundance of small things, all shining and blooming together.

Because, for all of the effort and strain that is often put into trying to make everything make sense as one big picture, these small things serve as reminders of all the little parts that make up the whole. And just to notice even the smallest part is to have been one of the ones who was able to recognize the beauty of it all, even without being able to make sense of the bigger picture, as its unfolding.

And even though technically, a star is no small thing and can actually be many times the diameter of the sun, and even though a field of flowers can stretch on for acres in an expansive, endless way, yet still, stars and flowers hold beauty worth noticing and being grateful for, even if you are just focused on one small element at a time.

Keep noticing what shines and blooms, even before it all makes sense to you.

Keep paying attention to what is beautiful here, no matter how small.

Allow yourself to take a deep breath upon realizing the joy and gratitude worth finding right here, even before things fall into place.

The handwritten version of this…as it was coming to be…
